Native Garden
Led and cordinated the establishment of a Long Island native plant garden on school property. Worked with local plant nursery and school administration to plan and acquire neccessary materials and permissions.
Long Island Sustainability Elective
Researched and devloped project-based science elective to produce hands-on environmental and sustainability education. worked with my advisor/teacher and communicated with other school districts to produce an effective and engaging cirriculum, enrolling 15+ students.
Greenhouse
Collaborated with other students, advisors, administration and industry professionals to design and plan a greenhouse to be constructed on school property. Unfortuantly did not recieve funding from the school and could not be built.
Fundraisers, Guest Speakers, Field Trips, Volunteer Work
Participated in fundraisers such as native plants sales, native tree sales and trivia nights to provide funds for the club. Hosted guest speakers from local colleges, farms and politicians. Organized and collaborated with other clubs to host field trips to other schools agriculture programs, Long Island Aquarium, local gardens and farms. Organized local beach and street clean ups, collecting over 200lbs of waste in total.
